Masters - 2013:
This was the first piece I wrote for my master’s program at UBC. I decided to be ambitious and write a work for full orchestra. It was chosen for the 2014 Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Jean Coulthard reading sessions. I learned a lot about how to write for orchestra after receiving varied feedback from the players.
I named the piece “Imagine” because everyone always had a differing interpretation of the piece and I did not want to name it something that would cause one to change their view on what they heard. Instead, it now forces one to use their imagination to come up with what they think it happening.
